Deleting an unwanted root page language

I have a root page (default.aspx) for which my client created a secondary language page in German. They've decided to continue with English only right now and would like to have the german page removed. I've tried to delete it, but am warned that I cannot delete a root page.
How do I get rid of the german page without getting rid of the english page as well?

If you choose "Delete page" in the toolbar the whole page with all languages will be deleted. If you want to delete a single language, right click on the page in the tree structure and choose, "Delete Language". In the dialog choose which language you want to delete.

Maria's answer seems to work for most pages, *except* for root pages in a site, where the option 'Delete Language' is greyed out.
Anyone have any further ideas?

Hi
You can do a little workaround. If you temporarly change the startpage in web.config or Episerver manager to another page then you should be able to delete the language. Then you just change it back again.
Hope that will do the trick

Yes, this workaround solved the problem, thanks very much for your reply.
This still might be a problem for regular users as they don't have access to the web.config.
