Deleted files in contentarea

I made a block with a contentarea listint out generic media.

If you delete a referenced file, you get a grey line over the file in the block view, but looking at the block on a page in edit mode it seems normal.
Is there a easy way to get the same "view" in the page view?

When you delete the file, have you only moved it to the trash bin or have you deleted it using the API or clears the trash?
