Creating media folders programmatically

Hi! I have a system where users can upload files, and i know how to put them in the GlobalAssetsRoot but what I want to be able to do is to create folders under GlobalAssetsRoot with specific names depending on the information in the form. I want to create folders with specific names to be able to locate them from specific non epi pages.

I have googled it now for some time but I have only found that its probably possible but not how.

Any ideas on how i can do this?
