Demo template install problems

Hi all,

Has anyone else had problems when trying to install the demo templates (http://world.episerver.com/Articles/Items/Working-With-Demo-Templates-for-EPiServer-CMS-5-R2-SP1/)?

I am running EpiServer CMS 5.2.375.236. When I try and install the demo templates I get the error message "EpiServer CMS 5.2.375.133 must be installed to insall 'DemoTemplates.Setup'.

Does this mean I need to install CMS 5 R2 SP1 and then re-install EpiServer CMS 5 R2 SP2 to allow me to install these templates?

Any one faced the same issue?

Thanks.

Try with this one: http://world.episerver.com/Download/Items/EPiServer-CMS/Version-5/EPiServer-CMS-5-R2-SP1/EPiServer-CMS-5-R2-SP2-Demo-Templates/

No luck I'm afraid. I'd already spotted that link (sorry, should have posted that originally) but I get the same message.

Okay, download EPiServer CMS 5 R2 SP1, install it. After you've installed it, install the demo temaplates. You should now see the demo templates in the EPiServer deployment center :).

I installed R2 SP1 alongside R2 SP2 and that allowed me to install the demo templates.

It wouldn't let me install the demo templates on an SP2 site however, so as I had no SP1 sites I had to install one to get the templates installed. Hopefully now, it should just be a matter of copying what I need across to my current project!

Thanks for all the help.

Take a look at this blog post: http://world.episerver.com/Blogs/Fredrik-Tjarnberg/Dates/2009/6/Installing-Demo-Templates-on-CMS-5-R2-SP2--Another-Recipe/

Got as far as step 6 but the "Show All Sites" checkbox was not available in the Deployment Center.

Presumably I can copy the templates in to my project though? They aren't tied to that particular site are they?

Yes you can copy them, but make sure you get everything. All the files and dlls, the web.config settings, the dynamic properties, categories (BlogRoot), page types, and if you need - the demo content.

I gave up trying to manually copy across the demo templates!

Instead I reinstalled SP2. Now when trying to install the Demo templates on a SP2 site the "show all sites" checkbox appears, so I can select my SP2 site.

I now have the demo and public templates running together on a SP2 site :)
