Access Denied error when trying to write data over the Web service

Working with v4.62, I can pull data via the Web service just fine.  However, when I try to write data back (specifically, "CreateLanguageBranch"), I get an Access Denied error.

The account I'm using is perfectly valid.  I can login to the interface with it, and I can navigate to, edit, and add a language to the page I'm trying to work with from the Web service.

I'm told that in CMS5, there's a function to which you have to grant permission in order to use an account as a Web service account.  However, this doesn't appear to exist in 4.62.  There's no mention of anything like it under "Permissions for Functions" in the admin interface.

I'm using the DataFactoryServiceSoapClient.
