download files from VPP

Hi!

I have no previous experience with EpiServer.

I now have this task:Download a certain type of file that is attached by a user. The files are available via Virtual Path Provider, VPP

 

I have written a standalone program that is able to extract files like this from other media, like a fileshares and webpages automaticaly depending on filetype

 

Could someone please hint  me what possibilities I have to retrieve my files from EPIServer? Is VPP my only option. Can I suggest any specific configuration that makes it eayier to get the files. WebDAV is not available!

Which EPiServer version are you using? Sometimes somebody new 7.5 Media content repository is still calling VPP.
