How do you get content from ContentFunctionData?

Im using the following code:

 ExtensionPageData page = ExtensionPageData.Load(child.PageLink);
            if (page != null && page.AreaCount > 0)
            {
                List functions = page.GetAllContentFunctions(true);
                if (functions.Count > 0)
                {
                    foreach (var item in functions)
                    {
                        output = NEED TO GET CONTENT FROM ITEM;
                    }
                }
                else
                {
                    output = "NOTHING";
                }
            }
