Problems with installing EPiServer after using system restore

Vote:

After using system restore in windows I can't install episerver. After downloading and during "Running assembly installer for /Bin/EPiServer.dll" I recieve the message "The installation failed, and the rollback has been performed. [The configuration registry key is invalid]". Any help and I would be most grateful.

There seemed to be some problem in the register... And finally I found information at Microsoft which solved the problem. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143215.aspx

What the installer does after running assembly installer for episerver.dll is adding performance counters for performance monitor.

So you could try to rebuild it with:
C:\WINDOWS\system32> lodctr /R

If that doesnt work you can refer to the file: PerfStringBackup.INI.

Also remember to take backup of the registry to be on the safe side.

I think you could also just remove the episerver registry keys since the manager should readd it during next install.
\HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EPiServer4\Performance
